Neurosis Vessels

Thrown Vessels with Surface Augmentation and Glaze

Fear: H: 6.25” D: 6” | Apathy: H: 6.5” D: 5” | Frustration: H: 6.5” D: 5.75”

These vessels were designed with the intent of containing 3 types of negative artist emotions. Fear, Apathy and Frustration are represented in various ways in the pieces. I intentionally left each vessel unnamed when on display so that the viewer could decide which piece they connect each emotion with. When making these, I tried to funnel my feelings of these emotions into each vessel. The dark one with crackles in the clay represents Fear or Anxiety because I associate it with the feeling of instability, danger and “falling apart”. The white cylinder symbolizes Apathy or Detachment because i associate those emotions with emptiness, disinterest and plainness. The vessel with various marks and splatters symbolizes Anger or Frustration because I associate it with the feeling of losing control, aggression and confusion.
