Similar to Strain, Broken heart, Golden heart is derived from a very tumultuous time in my life. Focusing on the duality of the metaphors “a broken heart” and “a heart of gold” I blended the two into a wall sculpture that tells a story of loss and growth. By using a mixed media approach, the idea of piecing oneself back together becomes present. The act of shattering and then reforming those pieces into something more was something that was important to me in this piece, as it was one of the most important lessons i’ve learned.
